Of course things don’t stop with the end of the war as we see the constitution developing and civil and womens rights emerging. A new fact regarding the Whiskey Rebellion emerges though with not the same impact as the Boston Tea Party. Neither do they start with the war but long before with details of the arrivals of Europeans from several countries to the New World and the 13 colonies soon became dominant. One amazing fact was that it was easier to travel from Boston to London than to Carolina in the south. Also surprising is that the British were more interested in Caribbean islands for trade. There are also several pages devoted to the Civil War.
There is a whole section on the Liberty Bell and why it remains important and why it hasn’t rung since 1846.
Although there is a glossary the Factology Big Quiz is missing which now sadly seems to be a thing of the past.
Throughout there is the usual mixture of graphics with illustrations with the odd photograph. Maps and charts reinforce facts and everything is kept short and snappy. Aimed at the 8+ age range this is a fine addition to a young readers library.
