Bathe like Cleopatra in a Milk Bath at Sawcliffe Manor

Sawcliffe Manor Country House

A milk bath is no longer the folkloric legend of Cleopatra. It is said that the Queen of Egypt took daily milk baths to keep her skin plump and youthful and she had a good point for bathing in milk has numerous healing properties. Guests at Sawcliffe Manor can now indulge in their own regal ablutions with a Milk Bath Treatment in Sawcliffe’s new Copper Bath Suite in the Natural Spa.

A giant copper tub has been installed into the Copper Bath Suite which is filled with cow’s milk and calendula for this unique experience.

Milk has a wide range of soothing effects that include moisturising dry skin. Its proteins, fat, vitamins, minerals and lactic acid soak into the skin hydrating it while lactic acid also acts as a gentle exfoliator. It is also known to relieve the irritation of skin conditions such as psioriasis and eczema. As summer looms with sunny days ahead, a milk bath can help take the heat out of sunburn too. These benefits are further complemented with the addition of calendula flowers that do more than just look pretty with their anti-inflammatory, antifungal and antimicrobial properties that calm redness and ease skin discomfort while also healing injuries to body tissues. Additionally, copper has its own therapeutic effects with a soak in the tub reducing inflammation associated with rheumatism, arthritis, osteoporosis, tendonitis and sports injuries and improving circulation. With copper being an essential element for our bodies, absorbing it whilst in the bath is another tonic.

Asides from all these remedial advantages, there is nothing more relaxing than sitting back in the milk bath and feeling the distinctive and ethereal sensation of the milk against the copper. The Milk Spa Treatment
