A slight departure for this well respected series in that instead of something historical or from the natural world it is instead delving into the realms of cutting edge technology and what is conjectured for the future. Otherwise it follows the same format of 98 pages with fun facts and a mixture of graphics and photgraps. Naaturally it is in full colour and ends with the Big Quiz of 25 questions to ensure that you were really concentrating hard throughout. If you don’t want to take the Big Quiz, don’t worry as this book is designed to be dipped into at leisure.
Nanobots in the bloodstream are a real possibly and we quite like the idea of a nanorobot attacking plaque on our teeth rather than a dentist.
Apparently AI will create tens of millions of jobs by next year but of course others will be lost through automation. This book hints at what will happen in the fashion industry and even construction.
Driverless cars are already here (an interesting fact included is that 95% of accidents are down to human error) and no doubt the rollout will continue.
History isn’t missed with pictures and drawings of survivng automota and even a look at sci-fi writers and Asimov’s famous 3 laws of robotics (though there is also a fourth).
Aimed at the 8+ age group there is plenty here for adults as well.
