Many parents find that when a baby is experiencing nappy rash, it can negatively impact their mood. According to a survey of the parents of over 2,000 nappy-wearing children*, 83% of them agreed that their baby gets upset when they experience skin irritation in the nappy area, and their overall disposition suffers (62%). The impact of nappy rash on mood isn’t limited just to babies, with 84% of parents admitting to experiencing feelings of guilt, anxiety and helplessness when their baby’s skin is sore[1][1].
Additionally, the research specifically reveals that more than half of parents agree that nappy rash not only makes their baby grumpy and sad but also cry more than usual. This is why Pampers have launched the brand-new Premium Protection range, featuring the DermaComfort layer which absorbs faster to instantly pull wetness away from baby’s skin. Additionally, it provides up to 100% leakage protection for 12 hours and is approved by the British Skin Foundation.
The DermaComfort layer is available on Pampers Premium Protection New Baby nappies (sizes 0-3) and Pampers Premium Protection nappies (sizes 4-6). Whilst it might not come as a surprise to anyone that babies’ skin is thinner and more delicate compared to adult skin[1][2], what some may not realise is that key development milestones, such as weaning[1][3] and teething[1][4] , can cause upset tummies and ultimately, lead to runny poo that can impact their skin in the nappy area.
Dr Oscar Duke, medical doctor, broadcaster, and Pampers brand ambassador says: “All these new life experiences – as exciting as they are – can have an impact on babies’ skin. For example, at crawling and walking stage with increased interaction with other babies, they can easily pick up bugs which can lead to tummy upset. The digestive enzymes associated with runny poo can irritate babies’ skin, weakening the skin barrier. What’s more, when babies start to wriggle, crawl and move, wetness in the nappy area can increase friction against the skin and in turn, the likelihood of skin irritation.”
Nicole Hallak, Pampers Brand Director for UK and Ireland said; “We’re always listening to our Pampers Parents because we genuinely want to make the world better for babies and those that care for them. Most parents agree that that a dry and protected bottom keeps their baby happy which is why the new DermaComfort layer contains 1000+ micropores to instantly pull wetness away from baby’s skin, making it our no.1 to help keep skin protected. This allows babies to concentrate on achieving their milestones, one baby step at a time. Happy Skin, Happy Baby!”
