TOM BAKER MBE TO STAR AS SIR SHERLOCK HOLMES IN ORIGINAL AUDIO DRAMA

The game is afoot! AUK Studios is thrilled to announce that Tom Baker MBE is set to star as Sir Sherlock Holmes in a brand-new audio adventure, for release in March 2026.

Set in 1924, The Red Letter Day sees the former consulting detective finally accept a knighthood. Having lived the quiet life on the Sussex Downs, Holmes is drawn back to London, where, joined by his friend Doctor John Watson, they are both embroiled in a new murder investigation.

Fans can pre-order a CD and/or a novelisation of Sir Sherlock: The Red Letter Day via the production’s official Kickstarter page:

Tom Baker’s Return to Holmes

Tom Baker MBE returns to the role of Holmes for the first time since being on screen in the 1982 BBC production of The Hound of the Baskervilles (and being on stage in 1985’s The Mask of Moriarty).

Tom Baker says: “Thanks to AUK Studios for letting me have another go at inhabiting the super sleuth. Third time lucky!” He continues: “I hope I did his pipe proud this time. Enjoy my return to Baker Street – very aptly named, I think.

The Cast

Fellow Doctor Who alumnus John Leeson joins the cast as Dr John Watson. Having previously appeared as the voice of K9, the robot dog companion to the Fourth Doctor, Leeson is reunited with Baker, bringing the same dogged determination and sharp logic to this new pairing. Their real-life friendship and effortless chemistry allow them to slip seamlessly into an older, wiser, and wittier incarnation of Holmes and Watson.

As John Leeson says: “It was a delight to work with Tom again and – at last – this time I was playing the Doctor!”
The production also features Operation Mincemeat star Nicholas Rowe as Norton, who himself has portrayed Holmes, first in Young Sherlock Holmes (1985) and again in Mr. Holmes (2016), as well as Katy Ashworth (CBeebies), in her audio drama debut, playing Sergeant Emily Lestrade; whilst the late great Norman Eshley embodies Lord Lestrade.
This production is dedicated to his memory. A notable supporting cast of Conrad Westmaas, Wink Taylor, Barnaby Eaton-Jones, and Ian Kubiak round out the roles.
