Following the success of its launch last year, free immersive light festival, Winterfest, will return to Wembley Park on Thursday 26 November 2020. The family-friendly light trail will run daily, from 12pm to 10pm, until Sunday 17 January 2021 in London’s newest creative neighbourhood. The theme for Winterfest this year is ‘United in Light’. It aims to deliver hope and joy to the Wembley Park community and its visitors this festive period, giving family and friends a series of uplifting moments to enjoy and celebrate together at a time when they need it most.
A brand-new specially commissioned, site-specific light installation, ‘Reflections of the Future’, will immerse guests in hope for a positive future as it debuts at Winterfest on world-famous Olympic Way. The mirrored audio-visual installation will be a mesmerising display of visual illusion that will create a sense of wonder and joy for visitors.
Josh McNorton, Cultural Director at Wembley Park, says: “We are proud to bring back Winterfest for a second year. After such a challenging time for many we have commissioned our ‘Reflections of the Future’ installation to bring hope and joy to our community and visitors this winter. Wembley Park’s recently transformed Olympic Way has become a promenade of art and celebration, and we are excited for this new spectacular immersive installation to be a part of that for the festive period. We hope that this year’s dynamic installations, located around our wide open spaces, will bring some cheer to all as they celebrate together, United in Light, in line with government guidelines.”
