St. Ermins Hotel

We checked into St. Ermins Hotel on the eighth of October. Our party was two adults and one child, aged 12.

The location of the hotel could not be better. Close to theatres like the Apollo Victoria, next to nightlife, restaurants and cafes and yet remaining aloof, in its set back position.

Only 5 minutes walk from St. James Tube station, the entrance to the hotel is very elegant and grand and we were met and taken care of by incredibly nice staff on our arrival.

The lobby area is pristine, beautiful crystal chandeliers light up the intricate staircases leading up to the rooms. There were always several staff in the lobby, so if you needed something it was easy to find someone.

Our family room was on the sixth floor and upon entering it was bright and welcoming with 2 bathrooms, 2 double beds and a night bed.

The decorations were modern and the beds were very comfortable. One bathroom was a half bath and toilet and the other was a shower and toilet, which did fit our needs especially with a twelve year old.

We had dinner in the hotel and drinks. The Caxton Grill is a place steeped in the atmosphere. The food is top class and they cater well for everyone including vegetarians or vegans. The cured sea bass was full of flavour and I followed this with the rib eye steak. My vegan colleague had the pea and shallot ravioli , which was a delight and had subtly mixed flavours.

In the bar later at night, we tried a couple of their cocktails and were treated to the most delicious olives on the side that I have ever had.

Room service, out of hours, is mainly pizza at present, though the menu is constantly changing. The pizza was as you would expect from a hotel of this quality, quite delicious. Everything had a touch of excellence about it.

The room was quiet and we slept very well, the twelve year old told me that the day bed was also extremely comfortable and he could see out the window. The breakfast the next morning was either a buffet which had various cold and hot options of things to eat or something made off the menu. As always service was exceptional and needs were met swiftly. Overall it was a fantastic experience. It is clear that the hotel caters for many types of traveller from business people to travellers with pets and it fit our needs perfectly for our London trip. It is highly recommended.
